HISTORY
Career Transitions, Inc. is a 501(c)3 organization that provides employment, training and education services to youth in Wayne County, MI. CTI has 20+ years of service to local youth in job readiness, education, career development. CTI has distinguished itself from typical employment and training services by placing emphasis on initiatives that include partnerships with Local Education Agencies/human support services/ business community. This has fostered ongoing collaboration with local schools, colleges, employers, human service organizations, MI Dept. of Human Services, MI Dept. of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth and local government.

We provide comprehensive "wraparound" services to provide youth with support to achieve success and economic independence. We've served 5,000+ youth in summer youth programs, projects funded by private foundations, government workforce programs, the MI Youth Corps, and MI Dept. of Human Services. One initiative involved a unique program for youth aging out of foster care, Creating Independence And Outcomes. CIAO is recognized by Casey Family Programs as a highly successful national demonstration program.

CTI has been awarded a MI College Access Network grant to implement a Resource Center (Project ACE) in Inkster/Wayne/ Westland. MCAN was established in 2009 in collaboration with the Office of Governor Granholm, MI Dept. of Treasury, and key stakeholders from K-12, higher ed, nonprofit organizations, government, philanthropy, and business. MCAN's goal is to dramatically increase Michigan's college participation and completion rates, particularly among low-income and 1st generation college students. "...MCAN is mobilizing assets for communities across the state to help make higher education accessible and affordable for every Michigan citizen," Governor Granholm said. "In this 21st century economy, businesses require a 21st century talent pool, and that means Michigan needs to have one of the best-educated workforces in the world."
